Already on a GLP-1?
Let's optimize your results.
Whether you're on an injectable or the newest oral option, nutrition support makes a difference.
Why Nutrition Matters on GLP-1s
The medication is only part of the picture
GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound can be powerful tools — but they work best when paired with intentional nutrition support. Most people on these medications don't receive meaningful nutrition guidance, which can limit results, worsen side effects, and make it harder to maintain progress long term.
As a registered dietitian, I specialize in helping people on GLP-1 medications eat in a way that protects their health, preserves muscle, and supports lasting results — not just weight loss on the scale.
Two Things to Watch
Where things can go wrong
Preserving lean body mass
GLP-1 medications can cause significant muscle loss alongside fat loss — in some studies, up to 38% of total weight lost was lean mass. Protecting your muscle requires more than just eating less. Strategic protein intake and resistance training are essential, and a dietitian can help you build a plan that works.
Preventing nutrient deficiencies
When appetite drops significantly, so does your nutrient intake. Nutrient deficiencies are common on GLP-1 medications and can cause symptoms like fatigue, hair loss, and muscle weakness — issues that are often mistaken for medication side effects. A dietitian can help identify and address gaps before they become a problem.
How I Can Help
What we work on together
Navigating GI side effects
Nausea, constipation, and bloating are among the most common reasons people stop these medications. Strategic meal timing, food texture, portion adjustments, and hydration strategies can make a meaningful difference in how you feel — especially during dose increases.
Working with your changing appetite
GLP-1 medications shift hunger, cravings, and food preferences in ways that can feel unfamiliar. We build eating patterns that work with your reduced appetite — ensuring you're still getting the nutrients your body needs even when food feels less appealing.
Closing nutrient gaps
Eating significantly less means you have to be more strategic about what you eat. We focus on nutrient-dense foods and identify where supplementation may be warranted to prevent deficiencies that are common on GLP-1 medications.
Protecting muscle & bone
Studies show that up to 38% of weight lost on GLP-1 medications can come from lean muscle mass. Adequate protein intake paired with resistance training is essential — we build a practical plan to protect your strength and bone density throughout the process.
Amplifying your results
Clinical trials show that combining GLP-1 therapy with structured nutrition counseling leads to greater weight reduction than medication alone. The SURMOUNT-3 trial found that participants who received intensive lifestyle intervention before starting tirzepatide achieved 25% body weight reduction — the largest reduction seen in GLP-1 trials to date.
Building habits that last
Most people regain a significant portion of lost weight within a year of stopping GLP-1 medications. We use the time on medication intentionally — building sustainable eating habits so your progress is maintained whether you continue the medication or not.
Evidence-Based Approach
Grounded in the latest research
My approach draws on current research across nutrition science, obesity medicine, and behavior change. I stay up to date so my clients always receive evidence-based guidance.
A 2025 joint advisory from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the American Society for Nutrition, the Obesity Medicine Association, and The Obesity Society highlights the critical role registered dietitian counseling plays in effective GLP-1 therapy.
I have also completed the EmpowerRD GLP-1 Nutrition Counseling Certificate — a comprehensive, CDR-approved training program specifically designed for dietitians working with clients on GLP-1 medications. The program covers nutrition therapy, behavior change, and the psychological and emotional shifts that come with GLP-1 treatment, from initiation through long-term maintenance.
"Evidence-based nutritional and lifestyle strategies play a pivotal role to address key challenges around GLP-1 treatment of obesity, making clinicians more effective in advancing their patients' health."
